At Irish Stairlifts, we design and build concrete ramps for wheelchairs to suit every home and mobility need. All of our wheelchair ramps are constructed with health, safety, and long-term durability in mind, fully conforming to industry standards across Ireland.

Whether you need a ramp for wheelchair for home, disability ramps for home, or bespoke ramps for wheelchairs, we provide reliable, high-quality solutions trusted throughout Ramps Ireland.

A typical wheelchair ramp is built using a brush-finished concrete mix to create a strong, non-slip surface.

The gradient is always wheelchair compatible, with the recommended fall set at 1:20 where space allows — or 1:12 if space is limited. These gradients ensure your ramp wheelchair installation is both safe and easy to navigate.

How the Ramp is Measured

The fall is calculated by multiplying the vertical height to be overcome by the total length of the ramp.
Example: If the step height is 100mm and the gradient is 1:20, multiply 100mm by 20 to determine a ramp length of 2000mm.

Level Platforms

All wheelchair ramps Ireland installations require a level turning platform for safe manoeuvring. Platforms are essential at the top of the ramp, at every corner, and along long ramps where resting points may be needed. A gentler incline is always recommended for comfort and safety.

Rails and Edgings

Most ramps require handrails on open sides for added stability. Our rails are custom-built steel, finished in anti-rust paint in the colour of your choice.
Edgings are installed to prevent wheelchairs or scooters from rolling off the side and can be created using block edging or incorporated into the handrail design. Edging height is typically 100mm above ramp level.
